About Me

About Me

Dr. Chelsea Spiro

I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Washington (PY60805688). Creating strong, long-term relationships with my clients and providing compassionate and affirming care is the foundation of my work. I believe that this collaborative relationship lays the groundwork for change. I enjoy incorporating art and play into my work whenever possible, and I am a strong proponent of the healing potential found in nature.

In my free time, you can find me exploring Seattle’s parks and playgrounds with my two young children and husband, cooking my Yiayia’s Greek dishes, or enjoying a good novel and a cup of tea from my excessive supply.

Education and Training

I earned my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Denver and my bachelor’s degrees from Pitzer College. I completed my clinical internship at Morrison Child and Family Services in Gresham, Oregon, and my post-doctoral fellowship at MindSights in Portland, Oregon where I conducted psychological assessments with children in the foster care system. I have experience working with children of all ages, adults, and families in a variety of settings, including community mental health clinics, shelters, schools, private practice, and child care.

I have specialized training in several evidence-based treatment models. I am a certified Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) provider, and have training in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Additionally, I am a trained provider in several parent support models including SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), The Incredible Years (parent trainer), and Bringing Baby Home. I earned my endorsement as an Infant Mental Health Specialist in 2020, which means I have specialized knowledge and expertise working with babies and young children (birth through six) and their families. I was previously licensed as a Psychologist in Oregon before moving to Seattle.
